Hey, I'm Kristin Penuel



I'm an Associate Licensed Counselor and board certified counselor (NCC) in Trussville, Alabama, just outside of Birmingham. I have a bachelors in psychology from Regent University in Virginia and a masters in counseling from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. My advanced training is in couples therapy, premarital counseling, and family counseling.

I see clients at Cahaba Counseling under the supervision of Donna Marsh, LPC-S. We're located in downtown Trussville, on the campus of First Baptist Church Trussville. After realizing the huge need for more marriage therapists in Birmingham and surrounding areas, I began offering marriage and relationship coaching online so that I can offer my services and expertise to a greater number of people in a streamlined way.

While I love working with individuals and families, my greatest passion is working with couples. So often, couples come in on the brink of divorce, saying they've tried everything and this is a last-ditch effort. They learn to tell their stories and express their needs in a way that their partner can really hear them. They gain tools to help them communicate better and grow close again. Positive changes happen quickly in couples therapy, and there is no greater joy than seeing a marriage restored, happy, and whole.
